Lilia is an arts and culture writer, programmer and event producer with a first class Film & Literature degree from the University of Warwick. She has experience in print and digital media, having written for her campus newspaper for two years, editing and writing for the university's fashion and arts blog, co-hosting a feminist radio show and running her own website for almost six years. After graduating, she returned to her hometown and helped to run a local film collective which focussed on arthouse and international cinema. Here she assisted in programming monthly screenings, managed social media and created marketing material.
She has undertaken internship roles at fashion PR company, FavourUp (where she worked as the Fashion Editor, interviewing up and coming designers in the LFW showrooms and writing articles for the website) and as a Features Intern at the Sunday Times Style Magazine, where she was kindly called "one of the smartest interns [they've] ever had" by former-EIC Lorraine Candy.
In 2019 she worked as the Events Assistant at the British Film Institute and London Film Festival and as Hospitality and Dinners Assistant at BFI Flare 2020. From 2020 - 2021 she was a BFI Film Academy Young Programmer where she previewed submissions for Future Film Festival 2021 in addition to curating and hosting interviews and events, contributing regular reviews for social media and creating promotional content. From December 2020 to August 2021, she worked as Content Manager at WeLoveCinema, and from August 2020 to February 2024, she was a Festival Producer and Senior Programmer for Rianne Pictures' Women X Short Film Festival.
She continued to work with the BFI on various festivals and events throughout 2021 and 2022, and currently works as an Event Coordinator producing events for the year round BFI Southbank programme. She also occasionally programmes events and screenings at the BFI, and produces the yearly Woman With a Movie Camera Summit.
